Vipre has always been slow ever since Sunbelt Software times, but now it's ridiculous.
I have just done a scan of a backup HD - something like 24 Hrs in total.
Malwarebytes did it in 1hr 28 mins.
Vipre said it scanned 264316 files, MWB 229749....
Roger, If you are doing scheduled scans, I'd suggest making sure the Rapid Scan option is enabled to improve the speed of the scans. This option is under the scheduled scan settings which you can access by right clicking on the scheduled scan. With this option enabled, the first scan may still take longer but the second scan should be significantly faster.
I will try that when the current scan finishes. It's been running now for nearly two days on a USB 3 HD with 0.58Gb data and no indication of how long is left.
Had to terminate the scan after three days! The HD was just getting too hot
Still exactly the same. Scans are taking well over 6 - 8 hrs and often more than a day. This on a i7 quad core PC with a 500GB C and D drive and a 2GB SD card plugged in as a backup.. I've done all the things support suggests such as completely removing Vipre and reinstalling to no effect.
Roger, I'd suggest opening a ticket with Support so they can take a closer look at what is happening on your system. To do this, you can use this link:
Thanks Nick: I've actually done that several times, and done what they recommend such as completely un- and then re-installing but same thing. I posted here in case anyone can throw light on this.
(I've been using Vipre since Sunbelt Software days and, as I say above, it's not been the fastest scan in the pack since then, but not days!)
