The following Article will outline VIPRE's installation on this Server Role and it's initial setup.

Installing VIPRE Email Security:

  1. Click Here to download the latest version of VIPRE Email Security
  2. Follow the prompts through the Installation Wizard
  3. Uncheck "Launch the Welcome Wizard" and select Finish

Setup of the Connection Filters:

Register the Transport Agents:

  1. Open the VIPRE Email Security Console and navigate to Agents
  2. Select "Register" (Note: This will briefly interrupt Mailflow)

Enable Greylisting and RBL / SPF Checks:

  1. Navigate to: Policies & Recipients > Antispam > Connection Filtering Settings (tab)
  2. Select "RBL Settings", Enable RBL Checks and select OK
  3. Select "SPF Settings" and Enable SPF Validation
  4. Ensure only "Allow Result 'Hard Fail'" is Unchecked
  5. Select OK
  6. Check "Enable Greylisting" (What is Greylisting?)
  7. Check "Enable Allowed IP List" and add any Known-Good senders
  8. Select Apply at the top of the page

Enable Antispoofing Checks:

  1. Navigate to: Settings > Domains > Antispoofing (tab)
  2. Check "Enable Antispoofing" and "Trust Authenticated Connections"
  3. Add the IP Address of any server sending mail for this domain
  4. Select Apply at the top of the page

Configure the Antispoofing Action on the Hub-Transport Server

  1. Open VIPRE Email Security on the Hub-Transport Server
  2. Navigate to: Policies & Recipients > Antispam
  3. Select an applicable Antispam Policy and go to "Policy Settings" (tab)
  4. Choose an action for these messages inside Spoofing
  5. Select Apply at the top of the page

Finally, Restart VIPRE's Plugin Manager Service:

  • Restart the "VIPRE Email Security Plug-in Manager Service" through Services.msc
  • Note: This will also restart the Exchange Transport Service
