Note: For the context of this article, the following terms apply:

  • An UPDATE refers to moving from an older software version to a newer software version. For example, an update from VIPRE 7.5 > VIPRE 9.5.
  • An UPGRADE refers to moving from one edition of VIPRE to a more enhanced edition. For example, an upgrade from VIPRE Antivirus Business > VIPRE Endpoint Security. 

The instructions below outline how to upgrade the VIPRE Business Console from Standard to Premium and push the new Agent Software to workstations.

If the installed console is below Version 5.0.4959 the upgrade path requires additional steps listed below:

Upgrading the VIPRE Business Console:
  1. Ensure the key received from sales begins with "402"
  2. Close the VIPRE Business Console
  3. Download and run the VIPRE Business Premium Installer
  4. Once complete, open the Console and confirm the Premium version is installed

Downloading Agent Software:
  1. On the Console, go to: Site Properties > Updates
  2. Wait for the Status for the Software Updates to report "Healthy"
  3. Close the Site Properties

Upgrading the Agents:

Upgrading with a Scheduled Installation:
  1. Right click the Agent, select Agent Updates, and choose Schedule Agent Upgrades
  2. Select VIPRE Business Premium from the drop down menu and choose an installation time
  3. The agent will upgrade shortly after the scheduled time

 Important Notes:
  • Upgraded Agents may require a reboot (the Console upgrade will not).
  • Once upgraded, It is NOT possible to DOWNGRADE from a Premium Agent to a Standard Agent. These Agents will need to be removed and reinstalled.
