This article will take you through updating your VIPRE Business console and agents from an older software version to a newer software version. This is different than an upgrade, which is moving from one product tier to a more advanced product tier.

Important: You will need to plan for a possible reboot when updating the VIPRE Endpoint Security console. Updating the VIPRE Endpoint Security console to the newest version will require Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 to be installed. If .NET Framework 4.6 is not already on your system, the installer may reboot the server to finalize the installation.

Important: ConnectWise Customers should contact ConnectWise Support to confirm compatibility before updating.

It's recommended to create a backup of VIPRE's Database prior to updating. The process is outlined below:

For Major Version Updates (ex: Version 7 to 9), ensure Automatic Agent Software Updates are set as desired:

Consoles prior to version 5.0.4959 require additional steps before updating:

There are 2 parts to the update process: Updating the console, and updating the agents. Follow both parts, below.

Part 1 - Updating the VIPRE Console
  1. Ensure the VIPRE Business Console is closed prior to running the update
  2. Download and run the appropriate installer:
  3. Proceed through the installation prompts to complete the update
  4. When finished with the Console update, continue with the agent update in Part 2.

Part 2 - Updating the VIPRE agents
  1. Follow the steps outlined in this article: Updating VIPRE Business Agents

Note: Database Migration may take some time depending on size. Canceling the wizard can result in data loss.
Important: VIPRE Business is only available in English from version 6 and all subsequent versions at this time.
