Windows Security Center is reporting that VIPRE not running.


  • VIPRE Business
  • VIPRE Business Premium
  • VIPRE Endpoint Security
  • All Supported Environments


Confirm the following on the troubled system:

  • VIPRE's Service is running
  • Definition Updates are enabled & current
  • Active Protection is enabled
  • The Agent's policy's Windows Security Center Integration option is enabled (Business Versions Only)

Should these settings all be correct and Windows still reports a problem, Windows Security Center can be reverted to it's Default State:

  1. Open Services.msc
  2. Locate and stop "Windows Management Instrumentation" & "Security Center"
  3. Navigate to: C:\Windows\System32\wbem
  4. Delete or Rename the Repository folder
  5. Reboot the system


VIPRE's service is stopped, is not configured correctly, or Windows Security Center's repository files are corrupt.
