Problems might arise during attempts to create self extracting executables with WinZip Self Extractor and possibly other applications intended for the same purpose with VIPRE running. The problem is due to the method by which the WinZip Self Extractor creates the files. At some point during its creation, VIPRE may scan the executable before WinZip is done creating the file. This can cause a problem when WinZip attempts to finalize the executable because it may be locked while it is being scanned. To avoid this from happening, create a directory where the executable files will be created and follow steps below to set an exclusion in VIPRE for this file location.

  1. Open VIPRE
  2. From the main interface, click the Antivirus green arrow or click Manage tab > Antivirus
  3. Scroll down until you see Exclude From Scans

  1. Click Manage Excluded Items
  1. A new window will open, click the Add New Location or File button
  2. Add the file path of the directory you just created and hit enter
